Who are your Staff?

Our staff are hired from our very talented lead counselors and directors. Individuals who have been with our program for multiple Summers and have shown their love for what they do and dedication to our philosophy of “Growth through participation.”

We understand we are not for all families and we do NOT accommodate for families that want special treatment. We believe in teaching fairness and sportsmanship and that also applies to parents.

What schools do you pick up from?

We will pick up from most LAUSD Elementary schools within an approximate 10 mile radius to the campus. Current confirmed schools include Kester Elementary, Chandler Elementary and Burbank Elementary.

Will my child get all their homework done every day?

That is our goal every afternoon. However, every child is unique and every day is different. Some situations may arise where a student must finish the learning process at home. As long as a child makes full effort to finish their homework during the hour and a half homework time, our policy is to insist on a break for fun activity. When such situations arise, our staff will endeavor to inform you when you get your child at the end of the day.

Are you a tutoring service?

While small group instruction and assistance is an important part of what we offer, we are NOT an intensive tutoring service. If your student is falling significantly behind in school, outside intervention may be recommended.

What do students do during Homework time if they finish their homework early, or have no homework that day?

All of our students are offered additional academic supplementation as part of our After School program. During the year we will track and reward (prizes and recognition) student participation. But these are optional, and students may opt for other quiet activities (i.e. drawing) during this time if their homework is completed. In the event that an entire Homework Group has no homework, our group leaders may run an organized activity with them.

What are the different “fun activities” my child will get to do?

On a regular basis all students will get a chance to climb our amazing rock wall, play various group sports, produce beautiful arts and crafts creations, and challenge their thinking skills with our games collection. Every Tuesday all students will have access to the community service Teaching Kitchen where they will learn basic kitchen skills or participate in nifty science activities. Every Tuesday, weather permitting, will be a fun free swim for all our students.

What if I don’t need my child picked up on a certain day?

If our services are not required on any registered day, for any reason, parents may request a full credit for the day value ($25 – Mon, Wed, Thu, & Fri $35 – Tue) for that day. This credit is dependent on notification NO LATER than noon of the day to be missed.

Days may also be added up until noon of the day as long as space is available.

All in-week cancellations and registrations should be made by emailing Geoffrey@MonarchCamps.com

Do you offer Gymnastics or Swim lessons?

You are able to register for Dance, Gymnastics and Rock Climbing Classes with Monarch Camps. There is also an option to do swim lessons with LA Community Services. If your child is registered for any Monday through Friday Gymnastics or Swim classes between 3:00 and 6:00, we will escort them to and from class as part of our offered services. Please speak directly to the After School Director if you wish to set this up.
